Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace

This course provides healthcare professionals with essential knowledge and skills to recognize, report, and manage impairment in the workplace. Participants will learn about the causes and signs of impairment, including substance use disorders, burnout, and physical and mental health challenges. The course emphasizes early intervention, understanding legal and ethical reporting obligations, and exploring treatment options such as Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) and Alternatives-to-Discipline (ATD) programs. By the end of this course, learners will be equipped to protect patient safety and support impaired colleagues with compassion and professionalism.
